Cattle

List of all Galleries

Since I paint so many horses and cowboys it seems like a natural progression to paint cattle. I have been doing a lot of studying and practicing and now I finally have something to show you.

Branding Pen

Calf ropers making plans on which calf to catch

Cowboys preserve the ways of the old west

Evening Glow

Black Calves with a halo from the sun

This was an image that I wanted to paint for a long time but didn't think anyone but me would like it

Four On A Lark

Four young calves out to see their world

Black calves out to investigate the hills that make up their home.

Bringing Up The Rear

Older cows and calves tend to fall to the rear.

Gathering the cattle to change pastures is just one of the jobs that is still done on horseback on many ranches. The older cows and the younger calves get tired before they reach their new pasture and must be urged on until they arive.

Green Pastures

Cow and Calf on lush spring pasture

The setting of this painting is Two Tree Hill. This is my favorite view of our farm. It is on Sleepy Hollow Road, now how is that for a romantic name? This scene has appeared in several of my paintings.

In The Cool Of The Day

Black cows in a foggy valley

Foggy mornings and cattle make for a tranquil, restful scene.

See Food Diet

Three calves at the feed bunk

These calves are on a see food diet just like me..

Sticken Close To The Well

Herford Cows Sticken Close to the well

In the heat of the day, the shade of the tree and the water keep these cattle close to the well.

The Cattle On A Thousand Hills

Cows and calves on lush summer pasture

The sight of the cows and calves on pasture in the summer brings all sorts of romantic ideas about the old west and cowboys and round-ups. This too is something that is slipping away from us.
